Cigna 2018 Trip to Banff

Insights picked up from the Cigna top producer's excursion to Banff, Alberta Canada for the 2018 trip: Cigna has grown incredibly fast. They will be converting over more states to the CHLIC (Cigna Health and Life) brand, while trying their best to maintain low rate increases on the newly-closed old block of business (American Retirement Life and Loyal American brands. Cigna will be coming out with a Hospital Indemnity plan soon to be coupled with Medicare Advantage plans. Information coming. Cigna will be soon improving their already best-in-class Electronic Application. Cigna once again said they will instituting "Draft Upon Approval" vs. waiting up to 6 months for cases to start before drafting the first premium. This will, hopefully, stop the massive fraud being perpetrated by fly-by-night agents and call centers who have been "taking applications" on folks who had absolutely no idea they were a part of an application, and whose "not taken" rate was near 80%+! The various call center-agency owners that I know have, for 2018 and beyond, moved 100% away from writing all applications solely in the agency owner's name. They are having every internal agent licensed, contracted, appointed as LOA and those clients are assigned to them. So, you won't be seeing $1mil+ production from "individual" agents walking across the stage next year. At least, not those that did this year for 2017's production as "individuals". Instead, these agency owners will be qualifying for future trips based on overall agency production vs. individual. It is a much higher threshold, but they're all there, anyway. Some agents are happy and fully content by working by themselves. They have no interest in replacing themselves, hiring folks, or increasing their lifestyle. There's absolutely nothing with that. But, as I've covered many times, there is a logical progression to grow into a team to help you. Understand that this logical progression is not something strange or unique. It is often necessary if you intend on growing to serve a growing client base. I talked about when you should consider hiring folks, here.
