Oxford Life Explains their Underwriting, Finally

Oxford Life did a webinar specifically to address their unique underwriting methodology. I covered on a December 20, 2013 webinar how they added over 20 questions to their verification call that were not contained in the application process. This method leaves the agent helpless in being able to pre-underwrite a case before taking the application and calling in to the company. Watch the video: In this webinar, Oxford says that it is completely unique for every single person. They deviate into previously-unknown questions based on what they see in the prescription list and what comes up in their initial questioning. They also try to defend the fact that they will not tell the agent what the height/weight chart is for Medicare Supplements. Two years ago, this caused a big fiasco over at AmeriLife when agents demanded to know what the height/weight chart was, on the final expense side, before pulling Oxford out of their briefcase with clients. Oxford gave in, then, and released the H/W chart. They have not yet done so on the Medicare side. I was told by an executive at Oxford that this was because, if given this information, agents would "clean sheet" business and all of their clients would come in just UNDER the maximum guidelines. That's trust, folks.
