Medicare Rights Center Asks Biden For Medicare SEP – OPEN UP!

The Medicare Rights Center signed onto a letter, along with all 50 state and national organizations urging the Biden Administration to open a Special Election Period for Medicare beneficiaries for Part C (Medicare Advantage) and Part D (drug plans.) The administration did so in January for those Under 65 but neglected to address those most vulnerable to the effects of Covid – the senior population.

In part, the letter reads:

Specifically, we request the immediate reinstatement of two critical COVID-19 related Medicare
enrollment flexibilities: the Special Enrollment Period for Part C and Part D2 and Equitable Relief for
Premium Part A and Part B.3 These policies should remain in effect through December 31 of the year the
public health emergency ends, at a minimum, and coverage should begin no later than the first day of the
month following enrollment.

We call on the agent community, including NAHU and AHIP to advocate for this re-opening, too.

March 2018 Medicare Update

After a meeting in Palm Springs with some top producers, I came away with some good news for those in the Medicare business.
On location in San Diego, here's my update on the industry and what's coming.

Remember, we can write a Medicare Supplement up to 6 months prior to their Part B start date.
Some notable exceptions to these include carriers that do not allow it (see your Agent Guides).
We know these to be Anthem, Humana, and Cigna (90 days).

What do you use when they have no Medicare card yet and you're writing a T65 application? See below!
